Before you submit your complaint:

Ensure the engineer is an Engineers Australia member. If you aren’t sure, call our customer engagement team on 1300 653 113 to check.

Unfortunately we can’t help you with your complaint. Engineers Australia only has authority to investigate complaints about its members, office bearers or those registered on the National Engineering Register. You may wish to seek advice from the regulatory body in the state or territory where the engineer’s work was conducted. Links to Australian regulatory bodies related to the building sector are listed under the sector regulation heading on our building sector reform page.

We are not able to consider the matter further until any legal proceedings or external reviews are completed. Once these proceedings have been complete, and if you wish to continue with this complaint, please contact us again after this time.

Please attach as much detailed documentary evidence as you can including but not limited to:

* copies of correspondence about the dispute
* copies of reports or photos in relation to dispute or building defects
* the nature of the building issues such as poor maintenance, safety hazards, structural damage or building code violations
* any relevant documentation that can help to illustrate the problem such as plans, contracts, engineering report, compliance certificate etc
